ROUTE DESCRIPTIONS

Click the (MAP) links below to access the various "Ride With GPS" route maps.  Please note that routes are subject to last minute changes prior to the event due to unforeseen road closures or other safety concerns.

11 miles (MAP) — Ideal for beginning cyclists and families: an easy-going, flat ride; you will ride entirely on the B&O Trail.  After turning around at CR 250E (trail terminus), you return via the same route.  There is a refreshment stop at the Tilden trailhead about 1/3 and 2/3 of the way through the ride.

17 miles (MAP) — New this year to celebrate and highlight the westward trail expansion in Hendricks County we added a 16 mile route option.  It was same as the 12 miler but folks rode on 2 miles of the newly constructed trail out to CR 250E and then back. There was a refreshment stop at the Rotary shelter which riders passed twice about 1/4 and 3/4 of the way through their ride.

25 miles (MAP) — You will ride 5 miles west on the B&O Trail.  You will then ride on picturesque country roads to the SAG stop at Maplewood where you can enjoy refreshments and live music on both the outgoing and return trips.  You will finish your ride by taking the B&O Trail from the CR500E trailhead back to Cardinal Elementary where you will enjoy lunch and more live music.

45 miles (MAP) — This route starts out the same as the 25-miler.  After leaving the Maplewood SAG stop, continue west through scenic farmland and a couple of moderate hills to the SAG stop at McCloud Park.  Your loop takes you through the town of North Salem for another SAG stop and back to the Maplewood SAG for a 2nd visit.  Finally, you enter the B&O Trail at the CR500E trailhead and return to Cardinal Elementary for lunch and live music.

62 miles (MAP) — This route starts out the same as the 25 and 45 milers.  After leaving the Maplewood SAG stop, continue west through scenic farmland to the SAG stop McCloud Park and then on rolling hills into Putnam County for a SAG stop in Roachdale.  Roachdale was the next stop on the B&O Railroad going west from North Salem.  After leaving Roachdale, you make a brief excursion into Montgomery Co and return to North Salem where you will find another SAG stop followed by a second visit to the Maplewood SAG stop. Finally, you enter the B&O Trail at the CR500E trailhead and return to Cardinal Elementary for lunch and live music.  No shortage of food with a whopping 5 SAG stops.  Don’t spoil your lunch!

PARKING ~ Ample parking will be available at Cardinal Elementary.
