Celebrate Trails Day - B&O Trail Mixer and Branding Update

Join us at the Tilden Trailhead from 12:00pm to 4:00pm for a Trail Mixer complete with light refreshments and a chance to mingle with B&O Trail Association board members.  We will have available some new information on overall trail branding in central Indiana. Stop by to see us and check out the new "Homeward" sculpture that was recently installed at the trailhead.  At around 2:00pm we will lead a 3-mile walk down to the White Lick Creek bridge and back.

Thomas Stevens Anniversary Ride (Virtual Event)

The Wheelmen Organization is sponsoring a Thomas Stevens Anniversary Ride on April 26, 2026. We are asking for your virtual participation in the 2026 Annual Thomas Anniversary Ride to help reach a total mileage of our goal of matching Thomas Stevens 13,500 miles for his ride around the world.

Thomas Stevens was the first person to ride a bicycle across the United States, leaving San Francisco, CA on April 22, 1884 and arriving in Boston, MA 103 days later. He then continued his ride around the world arriving in Yokohama, Japan on December 17, 1886.

First, you can be an individual rider within two weeks of April 26, 2026 date and log your miles with the Indiana Wheelmen State Captain, Tammy Haley within that two-week range.  Miles will then be added to the total mileage for individuals and organizations participating all across the county.

Second, you can be a big help by having your organization plan a Thomas Stevens Anniversary Ride near the dates above. Then the participating organization coordinator also logs total miles with Tammy Haley as well. All participating organizations will be noted in the final totals for this wonderful commemorative ride in the final National tally of miles.

INDOOR MILES WILL BE ACCEPTED DUE TO THE POSSIBLITY OF INCLEMENT WEATHER. Annual Big Sit Bird Watch Event

The annual Big Sit Bird Watch on the White Lick Creek bridge returns to the B&O Trail. This free event goes from dawn to noon and features experienced bird watchers who track bird species by sight and sound throughout the morning.  Connect with Mother Nature at a spectacular spot on the B&O Trail and learn about dozens of different bird species who live or migrate through central Indiana.  Park at Green Street and walk a half-mile west to the bridge for this event.

"Old Fashion Days" Bike Tour - MAY BE RESCHEDULED OR CANCELED

Unfortunately, the festival is being shortened in 2026 and will not include any activities on Monday.  As a result, we have to decide whether to host a bike ride as part of the festival on a different day.  Check back here for more details.
