In the team competition, Hendricks Regional Health was the winner with 38 riders, but four other teams brought large contingents of riders.  The Indy West Stake Boy Scout Troop signed up 24 riders.  Brownsburg Fitness had a team of 16 riders.  The Plainfield Christian Church was represented by 15 riders and Team CFW-We Can brought 10 of their racing cyclists to support the event. 

The most unique thing to happen at this year's bike ride was the engagement of Robb Osborne and Lisa Broderick.  Robb and Lisa came to the ride in 2010 from St. Louis and enjoyed it enough that Robb decided this would be a memorable place to propose to Lisa.  During our post ride lunch, the happy couple enjoyed a dance to the music of Just Us. 

There was a special donation at this year's bike ride.  Dr. Robert Hooker matched the entry fees of the HRH team members and made the donation in memory of Fred McKee.  Fred was not only a business leader in Hendricks County, but was also an avid cyclist and a long time member of the B&O Trail Advisory Board.  He will be greatly missed.

Thanks to our many business sponsors who have supported the B&O Trail for many years, but especially our title sponsor, Hendricks Regional Health.  Their generous sponsorship enables us to put on a first class event.  We also want thank the Brownsburg Parks Department for allowing us to use Williams Park as our staging area.  This beautiful park is an ideal location for the post-ride festivities.  The Hendricks County Parks Department also deserves a thank-you for supporting the McCloud Park sag stop.  Thanks also to Sue and John Benner for hosting the Maplewood sag stop at their home.   Their generous hospitality makes that sag stop a highlight of the ride.

 Last, but not least, I want to thank our volunteers.  We couldn't put on the ride without them.  This year, 41 people, including a group from the Avon Kiwanis Club, volunteered the day of the ride for various jobs such as check-in, parking, working at SAG stops, and driving SAG vehicles.  It's the ongoing support of volunteers like these that are key to the success of the B&O Trail.
