16 Miles is Ours!
Wednesday, 30 September 2009 07:22
On Tuesday, December 8, 2009, our B&O Trail Association became the proud owner of 16 miles of abandoned railroad corridor in Hendricks County!  The purchase from CSX Transportation finally closed after several years of negotiations with the company and several government agencies.  With this property in hand, and the first 1000 feet of pavement on the ground, we are poised to take advantage of substantial federal and state grants to construct several more miles of paved trail between Raceway Road and SR 267 in Brownsburg in 2010.  This will NOT be possible, however, without the financial contributions of each and every one of our members and supporters.  These grants all require up-front local "matches".  This means that we have to have 20% of cost of construction in hand before receiving additional grant money.  This matching money can amount to several hundreds of thousands of dollars!  Every dollar counts, so please consider the value this great trail would provide to you and your family, and just click on the button to the right today.  We are getting closer to our $50,000.  As of January 20, we have raised $35,177!!  (Click here for "thank yous")  Please help us reach our goal with a generous contribution today.

5K & 10K Run, Walk and Health Fair

Saturday, Sept. 12, 2009

Thanks to all of our sponsors, volunteers and participants for making the inaugural B&O Express a HUGE success.  We had over 350 runners and walkers, exceeding our expectations.  We have received many positive comments and a few recommendations for improvement next year.  Not only did participants enjoy a beautiful morning for a run or walk, they also had the opportunity to get free health screenings from Clarian, enter to win tickets to the first Colts game and received very generous refreshments bags from Clarian West's Garden Cafe.  We hope everyone, and their friends, can join us again next fall for the 2nd Annual B&O Express!!
